With a background in Public Administration and Education Technology, Renata combines perspectives from educational policy, technology, and learning design. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in Media and Technology at São Paulo State University (UNESP, Brazil), where her research explores explores how generative AI can support the transformation of dense public documents into accessible formats. Her work integrates information design, plain language principles, and technology-mediated learning to enhance civic access and reduce administrative complexity.
Renata is also a member of the Work Group "Right to the City", within the UNESCO UniTwin Chair “The City that Educates and Transforms.” Her participation in this network deepens her interest in cities as learning ecosystems, connecting education, civic engagement, and social belonging. Through this collaboration, she explores integral and place-based education as ways to extend learning beyond schools and into the everyday spaces of urban life.
Before beginning her research career, Renata worked for nearly a decade at São Paulo State University (UNESP), where she developed solid experience in higher education administration. Her work involved providing technical and administrative support in curriculum review and accreditation processes, as well as creating digital resources and procedural guides for faculty, students, and undergraduate committees. She also contributed to institutional governance as a member of the Committee on Academic Policy and Programs and as Ombudsperson of the Institute of Biosciences.
